Westwood Cross has announced its biggest ever programme of Summer events which it kicked off with a Meet and Greet with YouTubers the Ingham family.
The Inghams, who have more than 980,000 followers, were met by some 1,000 fans at Westwood Cross last weekend. First in the queue was a family from Liverpool, other people had travelled from as far as Swansea, Stoke and Cardiff to meet the family.
The shopping centre presented the Inghams with a £250 Westwood Cross gift card to spend which the family turned into a fun shopping spree challenge, budgeting £50 each to buy their Meet and Greet outfit. The challenge was published as the first of two vlogs featuring the centre and saw the family as they shopped in Select, River Island, Next and then enjoying their evening meal in Café Rouge.
The Meet and Greet vlog showed fans meeting the family, including one girl who had been discharged from hospital for the day to meet them before having to return later that day.
The family, who stayed at The Botany Bay Hotel in Broadstairs, posted on Instagram: “Can we just take a minute to say a huge thank you to every one of you that came down to meet us today in Kent. Some of you stood in the queue for more than 4 hours to meet us in the very hot sun.”
Staff at Westwood Cross were praised for handing out water, sweets and other goodies to the crowd.
Summer schedule
Francesca Donovan, Centre Manager at Westwood Cross, said: “We were thrilled to welcome The Ingham family to the centre. The demand for tickets was incredible, with all 240 tickets allocated in just 6 minutes!
“We have a packed summer schedule of activities for guests to look forward to, including our cycle powered scalextric track, Tyber from The Dualers making a return visit, Battle of the Buskers and of course the popular DinoPark.”
On Saturday, June 9 there will be a Scalextric track powered by cycle power with a competition to win a £100 Westwood Cross gift card. Police will have a vehicle for the public to look around and South East Coast Ambulance Service will be chatting about the service they offer and about their current recruitment drive.
