Army ‘bomb squad’ called to Ramsgate

An Army explosive ordnance disposal team was called to Ramsgate yesterday (June 4) after the discovery of wartime munitions in an empty property.

Kent Police and the Royal Logistic Corps attended the incident in Mentmore Road at around 2.50pm.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police attended an unoccupied property in Mentmore Road in Ramsgate following a report of suspected wartime munitions at 2.52pm on Monday 4 June.

“The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended and safely removed the two devices.”
