End of an era at Minster’s The Bell Inn

Ken and Fiona will hold a goodbye party on Friday

It is the end of an era at The Bell Inn in Minster with the announcement that Fiona and Ken Shewring are leaving.

The couple, and Dave the dog, have been a fixture at the High Street pub for the past five years.

Sadly they will not be renewing their tenancy and are holding a farewell party this Friday (January 5).

In a message on the pub website they say: “After a lot of soul searching, it is with a heavy heart we have decided not to renew our tenancy.

“We would like to thank each and everyone of you that has supported us and all the fabulous staff who have worked with us over the last 5 years – we couldn’t have done it without you. We have had an amazing time, we have met some incredible people and made lots of lovely friends.

“The Bell Inn will be closed this week and will only open on Friday 5 January for one final party to see the end of an era. All are welcome – we look forward to seeing you all.

“We wish you all the very best and look forward to having a drink with you all on your side of the bar.

“We wish any tenants good luck for the future when the brewery appointments them.”

The news has been received with sadness by many pub regulars who have sent messages on facebook wishing the couple luck for the future.
