Recruitment day for 40 kitchen jobs at Ramsgate’s new Wetherspoon pub

Pub operator JD Wetherspoon is hosting a recruitment day for its new pub which opens in Ramsgate on August 29.

It is looking to recruit up to 40 kitchen staff for the Royal Victoria Pavilion on Ramsgate seafront.

The recruitment event takes place on Thursday July 27 at The Mechanical Elephant, Wetherspoon’s pub in Marine Terrace, Margate, from 10am to 8pm.

Anyone looking for a kitchen staff or kitchen porter role can attend at any time during the day for a chat and interview.

Pub managers Chris Whitbourn and Charlotte Mason have already recruited a number of staff through an open day held at East Kent College.

Chris said: “ Charlotte and I are looking forward to opening the new-look pub on the iconic site in Ramsgate.

“The pub will be one of the largest, if not the largest in the UK, with a customer area of almost 11,000 square foot, plus a ground floor and first floor terrace.”

The Grade II listed Royal Victoria Pavilion has been undergoing renovation works.

The former casino and dance hall overhaul includes retaining some of the original, historic features, creating a new community space, a roof terrace, ground floor sheltered terrace facing the beach and pavement cafe under the canopy area facing Harbour Parade.

Planning permission for the pub was granted last year and a lease deal with Thanet council came soon afterwards.

The project is costing £4million and is creating a total of 100 full and part-time jobs.
