Film crews in Margate today (August 31) have been shooting scenes for Lee Jeans.

The film is expected to be used internally by the company.

The shoot in Marine Drive was temporarily scuppered by the downpours earlier.

Lee Jeans was founded in 1889 by Henry David Lee, in Salinas, Kansas. The company originally made jeans and jackets, but today, also manufactures shirts, skirts, belts, and children’s clothes.

The company experienced substantial growth in 1913 when they developed a Union-All work jumpsuit. In the late 1920’s, the company introduced the zipper fly, rather than the standard button fly. By 1960, the company had expanded and their products sold in more than 81 countries.

Today, Lee Jeans is owned by the VF Corporation, and has headquarters in Merriam, Kansas. The Lee UK HQ is based in Seven Dials, London.
