A boy has been taken to QEQM hospital after getting into trouble in the water at Westbrook today (July 28).

South East Coast Ambulance service was called to the beach off Westbrook prom at 12.48pm.

A Secamb spokesperson said: “We were called to a report of a male child who had got into difficulty in the water and was in a serious condition. A number of crews attended, with the first crew on the scene within four minutes and a critical care crew accompanying them.

“The child was out of the water when crews arrived. He was treated at the scene and taken to QEQM Hospital.”

At 3.13pm today emergency crews were called to a second child in the water at Margate harbour. A little girl was treated at the scene and taken to QEQM Hospital, again in a serious condition.
