A child has been taken to hospital after Margate harbour incident

A child has been taken to hospital in a serious condition following an incident at Margate harbour today (July 28).

Police and paramedics were called at around 3.13pm to reports of concern for a child in the sea.

Witnesses say CPR was performed on a young girl who was then taken to QEQM Hospital.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 3.13pm  to concerns for a child in the sea at Margate Harbour.

“Officers and South East Coast Ambulance have attended the scene and the child has been taken to hospital.”

A spokesman for Secamb said a number of crews attended the scene, adding: “A female child in a serious condition was taken to QEQM.”

Emergency services are not expected to issue further updates today.
