Eight parish and town council projects in Thanet will receive grants from the Pride in Place Impact Fund.
Thanet council’s panel for the fund agreed to support the projects and has increased total funding from £100,000 to £137,470 to cover the total cost of all the schemes.
The Pride in Place Impact Fund (PiPIF) is a £1.5 million capital funding programme aimed at delivering improvements to places valued by local communities.
While the main strategy prioritises investment in Margate and Broadstairs, Thanet council committed to supporting smaller-scale local initiatives through a dedicated grant programme for Town and Parish Councils.
The agreed schemes are:
Acol Parish Council — Acol Recreation Ground play area renewal — £19,600
Birchington Parish Council — Birchington place and belonging project — £20,000
Cliffsend Parish Council — Cliffsend heritage trail — £13,370
Manston Parish Council — Pride in play: Manston Park upgrade — £20,000
Minster Parish Council — Replacement of artificial grass pitch mat — £20,000
Monkton Parish Council — Community Hall redevelopment — £19,500
St Nicholas and Sarre Parish Council — Community road safety enhancement — £5,000
Westgate-on-Sea Town Council — Lymington Road skateboard park (phase 2) — £20,000
Cllr Ruth Duckworth, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Property at Thanet council, said: “Local spaces are the heartbeat of Thanet’s communities, and every town and parish deserves facilities that people can be proud of. By approving all of the submitted projects, we are ensuring that people living across Thanet will benefit from the Pride in Place Impact Fund.
“This funding is about creating real benefits that residents can see and enjoy in their everyday lives.”
All individual awards remain subject to meeting standard statutory permissions, due diligence, and the signing of a formal council grant agreement.
The £1.5 million Pride in Place Impact Fund (PiPIF) is designed to deliver projects by March 2027.
The main fund focuses on major assets, including investment towards the Margate Museum and Old Town Hall in Margate, and Pierremont Park and the Sarah Thorne Theatre in Broadstairs.
Final scheme recommendations will be presented to the council’s Overview and Scrutiny Panel and Cabinet for consideration in autumn 2026.
