Thanet sailors were amongst the overall winners at the NSSA Annual Regatta hosted at Downs Sailing Club in Walmer in partnership with KSSA
The event had more than 200 sailors from across the UK competing across the various fleets andm the Kent crew were the overall winners. The team included Thanet sailors Jacob Websdale (Captain), Winter Ilhan, Stanley Langmead, Klara Hegarty-White, Echo Ilhan, Loutro Hegarty-White and Oscar O’Shea-Gourley (Margate Yacht Club) and Henry Hodge (Broadstairs Sailing Club).
Team Captains for Kent (Jacob Websdale (Margate), Sophie Wantling (Wilsonian SC) and Daniel Hebditch (Chipstead SC)) were awarded NSSA Presidents’ Awards for their contribution to their county team. This is a training bursary to allow them to develop coaching and leadership skills in sailing.
Paddy Denby (Broadstairs Sailing Club) was the team manager and also won the All Comers Pursuit race as part of the Wednesday special races.
The event was staffed by over 200 volunteers from all over Kent including Minnis Bay SC, Margate YC and Broadstairs SC.
