The co-founders of Holges Holiday Homes, with two Airbnb properties in Broadstairs and Botany Bay, are expanding their business with the launch of retreat weekends.
Amanda and Sue Holges began their Thanet coast getaways venture with The Annex in Broadstairs.
The property was originally converted in December 2022 to provide a space for Amanda’s mum, Bobby, to stay during a difficult time.
After Bobby’s passing in May 2023, the space was transformed into an inviting holiday home, with the first guests arriving in January 2024.
Former retail and care worker Sue, 62, said: “We wanted to make the best of what had been a sad situation.
“By opening it up as an Airbnb, we could not only share the space but also create something positive for others to enjoy.”
Despite Sue’s health challenges with Functional Neurological Disorder, she and, 57,poured their energy into decorating, furnishing, and preparing The Annex with comfort and privacy in mind.
Their efforts paid off, with guests arriving from all over the world – including Australia, Germany, China, France, Switzerland, and the USA – staying for birthdays, anniversaries, wild swimming trips, family gatherings and more.
Encouraged by this success, the duo expanded in August 2024 by opening Seacroft at Botany Bay, Amanda’s family home, lovingly restored and furnished to the same high standard.
With both properties thriving, Sue and Amanda are now taking Holges Holiday Homes in a new direction with retreat weekends.
Launching with a Yoga and Wellness Retreat on 26–28 September, guests will be able to experience a variety of practices – from traditional yoga to Shamanic and Reiki drumming – in a relaxed, coastal setting.
Future retreats will also include photography weekends; art and craft workshops; metal detecting adventures; chocolate experiences and business and creativity retreats.
Amanda, who also runs Holges Consulting and Kent Business Mastermind, said: “Our vision has always been to create spaces where people feel at ease.
“These retreats are a natural next step, a chance for our guests to relax, learn, and reconnect with themselves while enjoying the beauty of the Kent coast.”

Reiki drumming and chocolate experience sound good.
Yes, we are looking to do some day courses too, though even being local why not get to immerse yourself for a weekend away from it all for a moment to yourself.
