New venue Margate Beach Club has now officially launched on the town’s seafront.
The club, at the former Sundowners building in Albert Terrace, has had a total refit after being taken on by the owners of the town’s Northern Belle, Neville Cavendish and his husband Lee.
The couple have been part of the local scene since moving to Thanet in 2014 and say Margate Beach Club is more than just a bar—it’s a safe and inclusive space “where good humans come to have fun.”
Coming up this Autumn, the team are planning outrageous drag brunches, locally curated/produced cabaret shows, and parties, making the most of their dancefloor – which has a hidden entrance- and the venue’s sea views.
Margate Beach Club will soon be launching a sunset cocktails menu, Friday to Sunday, and has given the dancefloor an upgrade with new DnB Audiotechnik, Alpha Theta DJ Controller, and a bespoke lighting installation.
There will also be a new Beach Club Kiosk (Friday – Sunday, noon – 7pm) serving up local beers, wines and summer spritzes with snack food to come.
MBC will be rotating local and guest DJs with pop classics on Friday, house all night long on Saturday and chilled soul, jazz and funk on Sundays. They are already working with local DJs such as DJ TBX, Laura Wyatt O’Keefe, Northdown, and Abbie Neill.
A packed Autumn schedule of one-off must-book drag and brunch themed events is also on the way.
Neville said: “We’ve created a safe, welcoming club for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies—somewhere you can be yourself, feel at ease and enjoy great cocktails, DJs and performance. You can always expect an element of surprise at a Margate Beach Club party.”
The team take safety and security seriously with a door host and weekend security team with zero tolerance of poor behaviour to anyone based on gender, sexual orientation, race or any other characteristic.
The club is also supporting local with Thanet-based performers and backing for Margate Pride and Margate Town Action Group through donations and collaborations.
Opening hours: Fridays & Saturdays: 9pm–3am, Sundays: 8pm–late.
Most Fridays and Saturdays are £5 entry (or free guest list via Instagram or the MBC website if you’re quick).

Totally disgusted by the statement “where good humans come to have fun” they may think it’s a clever form of words, but it actually reflects badly.
As opposed to the very bad human who ran the place before perhaps?
I’m Not sure it does- what’s wrong with good humans? Unless you only like bad humans?
The sticky beer soaked carpets have finally gone ! It looks a lot better!
