A motorcyclist was airlifted to a London hospital following a serious collision in Margate this afternoon (August 5).
Police, South East Coast Ambulance service (SECAmb), Kent Fire & Rescue Service and the air ambulance attended the incident in Westbrook Avenue just before 4pm.
The collision involved a motorbike and a car.
A SECAmb spokesperson said: “SECAmb were called at approx. 15:50pm to reports of a collision involving a motorbike and a car on Westbrook Avenue in Margate.
“Crews assessed and treated the motorcyclist at the scene for injuries including to their chest and wrist, before being joined by The Air Ambulance Charity, Kent Surrey Sussex.
“The patient was then airlifted to Kings College Hospital for further medical treatment,”
A Kent Police spokesperson confirmed officers were called to the scene just before 4pm and the road had been closed.
Why is the NHS always having to depend on a charity, the Air Ambulance, to ferry patients from Margate, to a London Hospital?
