Shoe giant Skechers will be moving in to Westwood Cross.
The firm will be taking on the unit currently occupied by Superdrug.
A planning application from Skechers UK requesting permission for a new, illuminated sign, says: “The unit is currently occupied by Superdrug.
“The landlord is stripping back the unit and installing a new shopfront with double height glazing. All these works are subject to their own planning application.
“Upon completion the unit will be occupied by Skechers.”
A planning application from Westwood Cross for new signs and a new shopfront reveals Superdrug will be moving just a couple of units up into the former Wilko premises. Wilko closed on September 12, 2023, as part of the company’s administration.
A Superdrug spokesperson confirmed: “It’s a relocation, with the move set to take place in May.”
US firm Skechers was founded in 1992 by Robert Greenberg, who had previously founded LA Gear in 1983.
Will Skechers be selling their excellent trainers fitted with Velcro at this store? Will I be able to try them out in the shop? Or will they continue to tell me to go online?
In other words, will they be catering for the whole community or just for the preferred customers who put fashion before function?
WWX could do with a Fat Face store.

Why not a overhead , walkway from Primark to Sainsbury, with small shops , cafes etc, if we must have a shopping centre at WWX make it something worthwhile,
