Little astronauts can learn about the wonders of our solar system with the Out of This World! trail around the Caves, search for Laika the space dog.
The café will be home to the zero gravity dress-up and photo point and great cakes!

Ramsgate Through the Senses
Taking place over the weekend of April 12-13, the programme includes foraging walks, fascinating talks and taster events, holistic treatments, creative workshops and culinary delights with a twist! Venues include Gather (formerly Archive), The Italianate Glasshouse, Ellington Park and a private residence.
The festival starts on Saturday April 12th at Gather (formerly Archive) on Military Road, overlooking Ramsgate’s heritage harbour.
Margate Mushrooms founder Darryn de la Soul will talk about the medicinal benefits of mushrooms such as Lion’s Mane and Shiitake. For those who love all things fermented as well as those who wonder what all the fuss is about, founder of The Fermentorium , Mike Jones will tell why he is passionate about fermentation and brewing and why it’s good for us.
With more and more people, young and old, preferring non-alcoholic beverages. ‘Just the Tonic!’ drinks taster will provide a selection of some of the leading brands such as Mother Root, Botivo, Aqua de Madre and local Kent cherry juice.
The last event at Gather on Saturday will be a special two hour Seaweed Pressing workshop with The Driftweed Artist. In this relaxing, creative workshop you will receive an introduction to the fascinating world of Thanet’s Seaweeds and be shown how to press them to create unusual and beautiful pieces of natural artwork for you to take home and frame.
In George VI Park, forager Nick Robinson of the Oast Smokehouse in Sandwich, will take people on a ‘Graze in the Park’ and explain the importance of sustainable foraging, what to look for and what to avoid. After the walk Nick will create a tasty foraged based dish for the participants to enjoy.
‘Springtime Tapas and Bonhomie’ is hosted by two amazing local chefs, Bruce ‘Nomada’ Stratford and Jessica Leah who will prepare a selection of delectable tapas dishes, accompanied by excellent Barnsole wine or Botivo, presented in the surrounds of The Italianate Glasshouse. Once part of the home of Sir Moses Montefiore and his wife Judith, attendees can expect an added historic dimension to the evening!
For those who’d like to try their hands (and feet) on a potter’s wheel, local ceramicist and teacher Mike Child will share his 40 years of experience during his pottery throw down taster sessions on Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday April 13th features two relaxing sound baths ‘Floating Frequencies’ with practitioner Eleanor Yankah.
The Ravensgate Singers is natural voice singing-for-wellbeing group that welcomes all voices. They are hosting an open-to-the public singing circle at St George’s Church, Sunday 1pm-2pm. No experience of singing or music making is needed just come along and enjoy!
Over at Ellington Park Join Amy from Forth and Forage in Ellington Park for a family-friendly wild food adventure. Get interactive with nature, touch, sniff and even taste your way around the park as edible and useful plants are explored. Expect stories, surprising flavours and to build confidence in identifying native plants. Two walks, 11.30am-1pm or 2pm-3.30pm.

Each of the short plays written by Alan Ayckbourn, John Bowen, Lyndon Brook, David Campton, Alun Owen, Harold Pinter, James Saunders and Fay Weldon is an independent play in its own right but the whole sequence, linked by a series of wickedly anti-authoritarian monologues written by George Melly adds up to an amusing, if acid picture of the progress of married life from honeymoon to cemetery.

This workshop will include an exploration of circular economy concepts, plus how to introduce sustainability into your own work. Sustainability 101 with Louisa Harris, who lectures in Sustainable Business at Cambridge University’s Institute of Sustainable Leadership and Nottingham University MBA’s Responsible Business Week… A mini workshop to give you an overview of key sustainability challenges and the role businesses need to play in shaping a more sustainable future and driving climate action.

Dead Good Artists

Dead Good Artists is an exhibition celebrating the artistic legacies left by ordinary people who, in their own unique ways, expressed their creativity throughout their lives. It offers an opportunity to honour and share these personal creations, recognising the individuals behind them – those who are no longer with us. At the same time, the exhibition invites reflection on the profound responsibility of becoming the custodian of someone’s artistic legacy, exploring both the joys and challenges of preserving and carrying forward their creative spirit.

Easter Egg Hunt Pegwell Bay Country Park

Easter eggs have been discovered around Pegwell Bay Country Park! Set out on your quest across the park, tracking down the Easter eggs and spotting signs of spring along the way.
Upon arrival head to the cafe to pick up your trail sheet before setting out on a self led trail, the trail takes place around circular route, taking around an hour to complete.
Find all the Easter eggs to claim your prize! Cost is per trail sheet with one prize available per trail sheet. Trail sheet includes some extra activities for the children.
Booking in advance is essential, a limited number of trails are available each day and only redeemable on your booked day. Trail sheets can be collected from 9am onwards, prizes must be collected from the cafe by 2pm.

Canterbury Trails in Westgate-on-Sea

Barb Dobson is a retired Art and English teacher, resident in Thanet, who has written, directed and staged three two act plays throughout the East Kent area. During the Coronavirus pandemic, she had three short plays accepted and screened by the Virtual Edinburgh Fringe and has written various sketches for local theatre groups. Born in Birchington, Kent, she lived for many years in Australia where she returns frequently. Her writing draws on her experiences in both countries and her fascination with the people she has met in her travels.
‘Canterbury Trails’ is her first book, It’s a darkly humorous collection of modern short stories, feuturing 18 individual characters, interlinked and set in the shadows of the ancient Canterbury Cathedral and East Kent. Barb is inviting people to join her for free drinks, chats and book signings at Westgate Galleria & Studio on Saturday 12th April (between 12 and 2pm). 29 Station Road, CT88RB. This large community gallery and shop space has a book corner that now stocks Canterbury Trails as well as other fiction, non-fiction and poetry written and illustrated by local people.

Marlie Mul’s artistic practice manifests somewhere in between sculpture, painting, print, fashion, distribution, writing, experiments in branding, the social, the flimsy, and the virtual.
References to the flowing, the liquid, the oozing, recur in Marlie Mul’s work on a formal level and metaphoric themes – from her folded paintings, to flaccid silicone works planted with thinning (synthetic) hairs, to facsimile sculptures of rain puddles and enquiries into the history of tobacco smoke. Her work is intricately fabricated while keeping a strong DIY character.
