Next week’s Broadstairs fireworks event has been cancelled following a government emergency alert yesterday (August 14) which warned people not to light anything that could spark a fire, including barbecues, campfires, and fireworks.
The warning was issued due to drought conditions and the growing number of wildfires that firefighters have had to battle.
An announcement from the display organisers says: “In keeping with yesterday’s government announcement banning fireworks due to the drought conditions and risk of fire, it is with much regret we have to cancel Wednesday’s August 19th firework display along with the music on the bandstand.
“We can’t at this stage give a rescheduled date, as we don’t know how long the restrictions will last.
“To say that we are disappointed is an understatement , but we must comply and safety comes first.”
Quite rightly so.
Why don’t they look at getting a drone display for a change maybe a good idea in long run
