The Great Birchington Seagull Trail

Monty’s have collaborated with a community knitting group who have knitted seagulls to hide in Birchington shop windows.
All the children need to do is find as many of the seagulls as they can, fill in their names on the trail sheet, and present their sheet at Monty’s of Birchington to receive a small sweet treat.

Broadstairs & St. Peter’s Town Council has officially announced the return of its highly anticipated youth music competition, Battle of the Bands, for a second consecutive year. Teaming up once again with local industry experts Sunshine Ocean Records, the event aims to give a platform to the next generation of musical talent across the district.
Ultimate Launchpad Prizes – A curated panel of music industry judges will crown the 2026 winner. The victorious act will receive a comprehensive prize package designed to kick-start their professional music journey:

Ramsgate Costumed Walk – Town Centre

Join a guided walk around Historical Ramsgate and meet famous characters from the past…
The group is run by dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers.
Whatever the weather, so long as members of the public turn up, they will carry on with the walks!
They don’t charge, and only ask for donations towards the cost of costumes, printing leaflets, etc.
Be greeted and guided through the Town Centre to see and appreciate the wide variety of buildings and architectural styles, ranging from the Regency to the Twentieth Century. The tour ends in the magnificent Parish Church of St. George.

Cygnets run two holiday workshops per day during half terms and school holidays, so you can choose to attend one or both sessions.

Cygnets Art School is a NUT-FREE ZONE, and any nut-based products will be set aside and returned to parents at the end of the class.

This is a chance to learn a bit more about the life of these plants and this amphibian as they live side by side at the reserve.
Work with the willow too and make simple hearts from its branches.
The Lost Words is a ‘book of spells’ that seeks to conjure back the near-lost magic and strangeness of the nature that surrounds us.

Broadstairs Folk Week

Broadstairs’ hugely popular annual folk festival by the sea, every August
There are over 400 events spread over one week, across 20+ venues – of which over 160 are FREE!
These include workshops for all abilities in music and song, and parade, plus a full programme of dances and ceilidhs, the Poets’ Breakfast and a daily Craft and Music Fair. The ever-popular official free pub-gig programme takes place every day in pubs around the town.
This annual festival is also family-friendly, with lots of shows, activities, and workshops for younger music-lovers, including family shows at the Bandstand, featuring Kent’s traditional Hooden Horses. Be aware that streets and venues become very crowded and noisy, so may not be suitable for some people or children.

A full day of grassroots Pride: completely free, community-led, and corporate-free. Join Margate Pride for a joyful and powerful celebration of LGBTQIA+ life, love, protest, and pride across Margate.

Dinosaur Trail
A trip to Westwood Cross could be a mini Jurassic adventure for young dinosaur fans.
Lurking outside Hollywood Bowl youngsters can find Kirsty the T-Rex — the centre’s very first animatronic dinosaur.
Named in loving memory of the wife of a Westwood Cross security officer, the T-Rex roars, moves, and brings a little prehistoric magic to the centre. Westwood Cross is also collecting donations in support of Macmillan Cancer Support and have placed a collection box alongside the roar-some display.
The T-Rex comes to life from 9am – 8pm every day and will be in place until 1st September.
The prehistoric fun doesn’t stop there. Venture around the centre to discover even more dinosaur residents.

Spitfire & Hurricane Memorial Museum
The Memorial Museum at Manston is situated on one of the very few surviving airfields which participated in the Battle of Britain.
During the Second world war RAF Manston was only 10 minutes flying time from what was then Occupied France, and bore the brunt of the early Luftwaffe attacks in the long, hot summer of 1940. It was also regarded as a useful “dropping off” (releasing any unused bombs) point for German aircraft returning to their bases in northern France.
Indeed, RAF Manston was at the forefront of many major aerial campaigns during the War, seeing service as a recovery airfield for stricken RAF and USAAF bombers retuning from action Germany as well as a base for fighters involved in Operation Crossbow (the defence against V weapons) in 1944-45.
Today the Museum continues to commemorate the brave men and women who served in defence of our country through displaying the aircraft and objects they used as well as telling their stories. Central to the display are the iconic Spitfire Mk XVI and Hurricane Mk IIc which can be visited for free by the public. Indeed, since the arrival of the Spitfire Simulator, visitors can even experience what it is like to fly high powered WWII fighters from the safety of the ground.
Finally, and most importantly, the Museum also hosts the Allied Aircrew Memorial garden which has regular services and commemorates those brave warriors that fell in defence of their countries.

Dreamland
Dreamland Margate is now open every day for the summer season until August 31.
Rides on offer include a 50-foot plunge on the Wild River log flume, Waltzers, Dodgems, Ghost Train and Rock ‘N’ Roller coaster.
New for 2026, younger visitors can hop in their own canoe and enjoy a ride on Little River, located next to Wild River.
Another new attraction for this year’s summer season is a giant Bavarian Funhouse, with three levels of fun! The Funhouse highlights include wobbly floors, water jets, crazy steps and rolling barrels. It costs one token per rider and is included in the Mega Wristband. Minimum height is 1m if accompanied, and 1.2m to explore the house alone.
The Scenic Railway is not running after the announcement in January that it was being ‘retired.’
Tiny Tots wristbands, covering smaller rides for young children, are now priced at £10.99 and Mega Ride Wristbands, meaning access to the park’s rides for the day, are now priced at £20.99 (T&Cs apply).
The Tiny Tots Wristband is ideal for children taller than 0.8m and below 1.2m. This wristband gives unlimited rides on Little River, Cups & Saucers, Ladybirds, Margate Express, Helter Skelter, Noah’s Ark, Magic Rockets, Austin Cars, Caterpillar Coaster.
Standard Ride Tokens are £3 each or a bundle of 20 can be purchased for £40. Each ride is 1 token. Wristbands, Ride Tokens and Season Passes are all available from the booths at Dreamland.
Park goers can also enjoy the retro Roller Disco, the arcade and amusements including VR games, plus a range of food and drink served up by local traders.
