Margate railway station has restricted access and crowd control measures in place this evening.
Southeastern says: “We’ve had to implement crowd control measures and restrict access to the station because of the sheer number of customers trying to travel. Please travel a bit later if you can and, most importantly, be kind to our teams at the station.”
There is a heavy police presence and reports of a flare up of trouble inside the station earlier this evening, as well as reports of fighting outside the station.
It’s understood one arrest has been made.
A large police and paramedic presence has also been evident on Margate seafront.
There have also been reports of trouble at Viking Bay in Broadstairs earlier this evening. An assault is understood to have resulted in one arrest and one person being taken to hospital.
Kent Police has been contacted for further details
There’s not enough police to cope with all the hooligans at each resort in Thanet.
The weather is hot and the booze is in easy reach on the beach, it doesn’t take long before the idiots start messing about.

Peak busy time at the train station, who would have thought that?. Was water handed out to those corralled?. Hope Train customers waiting to enter stations are not queued in direct sunlight…

I am disappointed at all the money spent in the last few years, to restore that lovely parquet wooden floor within Margate station. Now I see scum being restrained on that same floor!
We were on the promenade in Broadstairs Wednesday with a clear view of the beach between 2 and 5 pm , and were happy to see no trouble occurring down below. But in that three hours we didn’t see any police officers anywhere other than three security staff. Tuesday the police were more in evidence on the promenade engaging with the public.
Fact .. beaches are dangerous places , avoid them at all cost .. #stay alive
Simple answer to that.. don’t visit the beaches that are known to get rammed… we have plenty of others that are virtually empty.
Hence why I don’t do beaches that are rammed it’s ridiculous and defo need the army to take over and get this sorted let’s see the hooligans go against our soldiers they will whoop their arse in no time put the rats into the army if they want to fight and use weapons see how long they last they be crying for their momma and poppa
