Jolly Boys Outings are heading to Margate with a whistlestop tour of famous spots from the 1989 Only Fools and Horses Christmas special.
The Jolly Boys’ Outing saw the whole Only Fools and Horses gang journey from their South London home to Margate with classic moments including Denzil’s ‘disease’, the exploding coach, and Del Boy being reunited with Raquel, it became one of the best loved episodes from the series.
Now tours are being led by Adrian Pegg, who was a production manager for the famous episode.
The itinerary starts with meeting to coach at Margate Railway Station, where aptly the designated coach driver is called Del! Onboard the decorated coach participants can enjoy quizzes, spot prizes, exclusive video clips, and Adrian’s memories from the 1989 shoot.
Adrian says spots on the tour include the former Roman Galley site and the former Dumpton greyhound track – now both housing – the previous Broadstairs Police Station which is now the Thorley Taverns HQ, a fish and chip lunch at Olby’s Soul Cafe with an appearance from one of the Oly Fools cast, then on to the beach, the harbour arm, Palm Bay – the scene where the coach blew up – and then into Dreamland ‘if it is open,’ before heading back to Margate station.
There will be photo opportunities, gift bags and, of course, an inflatable dolphin although it won’t be the one Trigger lost in the Christmas special!
The tour runs from 10.15am to 5pm and gifts include an 80-page souvenir programme packed with rare photos and a signed, annotated replica of Adrian’s original 1989 filming schedule.
Tomorrow’s tour (May 16) is fully booked but there are still spaces for Sunday (May 17). Future tours are on:

DREAMLAND
We finish our tour at Dreamland, the same funfair the gang visited in the episode itself. Here we can wander around this iconic seaside amusement park and take a trip on the same scenic railway rollercoaster that the Trotter’s went on in the episode!

So much is gone: the Roman Galley is flats, the police station where Rodney was taken was in Broadstairs but is now flats or offices. Saddest of all, the Villa Bella is no more.
I was a ride operator on the watershoot the day they came to bemboms. What a brilliant day that was.
