Former Reform county councillor for Birchington who defected to UKIP now quits group to create own political party

A Kent County Council member for the Birchington and Rural division who quit Reform to join UKIP has now ditched that party and created her own.

Amelia Randall was elected in May 2025 on a Reform ticket but left the party in September saying it was ‘losing its identity.’

She became the only UKIP member on the county council after defecting to Nick Tenconi’s party.

Now, she has launched her own party – Better Way Of.

She said: “I started planning my party many years ago, but I decided I needed to get involved within politics first.

“What I have learned is that politics is like a school playground and that right now so many leaders are either becoming extreme or are wishy washy.

“There are many people in our country who don’t vote, don’t want to be associated with politics and are not represented by anyone. Likewise there are many on the Left and Right who are stuck with choosing the best of the bad.

“We are neither Left nor Right. I believe in patriotism but am also humanitarian and I know many people who feel the same. It shouldn’t be about division and ideologies; it should be about doing what is right for our country and our citizens.

“Decisions should be transparent, visual, understandable and outcome-driven. In other words decisions that affect everyone should be understandable by everyone.”

Cllr Randall is currently the only member of her Party.

In the May 2025 election Reform won 57 of the 81 seats. Defections, expulsions and one former Reform councillor jailed means the party now holds 47 seats.

      • Why do you feel the need to issue personal insults when you dont have the integrity to post under your own name? She is not permanently wedded to a party and can move as much as she likes. Also, im not sure starting her own party at the moment is the best idea but it beats sitting on the sidelines with nothing to contribute other than childish insults. Take a look at yourself before you question the intelligence of others. It may be an uncomfortable position for you to defend.

        • Are you by any chance the Steve Lewis from Thanet that was a long time Britain First supporter/defender & their so dubbed regional commander? If so talking about intelligence probably isn’t a good idea for you either, though would make sense why you are going into guard dog mode over a far right politician now cosplaying as a centrist.

          If we lived in a free society then using real names yes, we don’t as seen by the door knockings by police & phone calls to ‘check people’s thinking’ on certain issues-the main one which I am deeply against the pseudoscientific nature of, as well as promoting it-especially to children & general cancel culture of the last decade plus, no.

          Whether people use their real names or not does not invalidate their points-despite the politicians & people like yourself pretending it does to deflect. As much as I despise the racists for their comments during the riots, as long as they were not calling for violence-I defend their right to free speech & some of the jail sentences handed out were frankly insane, when there were better ways of dealing with them & keeping jail spaces, free rather than releasing dangerous people to make way for them.

          Correct-she is not wedded to any party, or clearly any ideas, as it has all changed. However if you are elected on a Reform ticket & she would not have been elected for any other party, then you should serve under that party, or resign & it be contested again-not hop along to another party four months later & then six months later form your own party with again no contest. People voted for her because they like Farage-not Tenconi or whatever this is.

          I have zero interest in becoming a politician-the problem being I am honest/straightforward/blunt, would do what was right for the people that elected me/didn’t-rather than what benefits me or sucking up to multinationals, genocidal dictators etc. Afraid playing politics is not for me.

          She has decided to put herself in the spotlight & thus is a public figure whose behaviour can be questioned. People are allowed to comment on it. Maybe you should stop white knighting her. If she wants to address points here or on her Twotter account she is of course free to do so, she chooses not to.

            I know that this may be difficult for you to grasp as it contains the truth and actual valid points so please do your best and try to keep up.
            I dont know this woman at all. Never met her and not likely to. Your claim that I am going into “guard dog mode”, clearly made for impact is therefore weak and without basis in fact. I objected to your stooping to person attack rather than question her political stance. Name calling? Really. Is that the best you can do when people disagree with you. That says nothing about anybody else but speaks volumes about you as a person.
            Lastly you can throw what you like at me because the likes of you have never had anywhere near the relevance that you think you have. Maybe its time to evaluate and take stock.     Well-maybe they don’t vote because of clowns like you, that jump between parties at the drop of a hat for whatever reason-usually personal gain, but in your case you started off with the hot party of our times, then jumped to the Fascist clown doing Nazi salutes-that is followed by the minority of football thugs that haven’t jumped on the Nigel or Rupert bandwagons & now you have left that to be on your own!

    People are not very likely to vote for you in the future are they? You are now onto your third party in just ten months.     • Attended one out of three expected KCC meetings from September 22nd 2025 until now-putting her joint bottom with one other. Having attended five out of six beforehand-losing interest, or just worked out she gets paid regardless-as long as she attends one meeting every so often?

    There is no virtue in being left ir right, if all you do is nothing and blame others for it.
    We need sonething more than patriotism to run this country with success.
    Patriotism can’t be popular, and as patriots don’t foul up their country with litter and sewage, it must be concluded that patriots and patriotism are either very rare or extinct.

  23. This is no less than we can expect from a former Reform UK member. Reform attracts the weird as members and once elected it’s usually not long until they are unmasked as racist bigots, misogynists , criminals (as in the case of the former East Thanet Reform Chairman & KCC councillor Daniel Taylor) or as fruit cakes!

    Perhaps this will act as a warning to residents in the Cliftonville Division as they prepare to vote in the forthcoming KCC by-election. Marc Rattigan, a failed Tory grifter who came 4th in Margate at last May’s KCC election seeks to convince voters that he represents change under his newly assumed Reform UK label. He even had the backing of another failed Tory grifter Rob Jenrick! Reform attracts all the failed Tory losers!

    Amelia Randall’s lunacy is typical of Reform on whose ticket she was originally elected!

  25. I enjoyed the website. We are sorely lacking delusional narcissists in the world of politics. Sure you have the Tories, Labour, Reform etc. full of them but this takes it to a whole new level. The AI elements are a nice touch. She gets my vote!

  30. In electoral prospects, BETTER WAY OF probably represents a step-up from UKIP!

    Of the nearly 1,000 Local Councillor By-Elections since last May’s ward elections, UKIP contested only…. three.

    It got a Grand Total of 12 votes. Five votes, five votes again, and (latest) just two votes.

    Randall showed good sense.
