A retail store which opened at Ramsgate Garden Centre in 2022 has announced it is shutting down.
Menarys, a family business based in Northern Ireland, created seven jobs when it opened its first UK site in England at the Montefiore Avenue centre in November 2022.
Menarys, Ramsgate is home to brands including bedding by Bedeck, fashion by First Avenue, Ichi, Khost and menswear by Jack Jones, outerwear from Regatta, a range of cookware from Stellar & Judge alongside handbags and accessories from brands such as Guess, Brakeburn and Powder.
It is now holding a closing down sale with 20% off everything, and some items marked up with up to 70% reductions.
Menarys say: “We regret that Menarys will be closing our store in Ramsgate Garden Centre.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal customers who have supported us here.”
The store has not issued an exact closure date but says it will be the ‘middle of March.’
British Garden Centres, which own the Ramsgate centre, said: “(Menarys is) leaving and we will be looking at potential replacements, but nothing agreed yet.”
Menarys was founded in 1923 by Cookstown draper Joseph Alexander, the great-uncle of current Managing Directors, Stephen and Philip McCammon. The business has 24 stores in Ireland.
Has the Garden Centre thought about replacing it with a Coffee Shop? Would go really well next to the other Coffee Shop. Works well at Westwood Cross :D
Sadly, drinking coffee is deemed more important than buying new clothes to many locals!
We need more coffee shops not less !
More Green Tea shops (I don’t drink coffee!).
