Ramsgate’s New Year’s Eve Winter Lantern Parade, with the theme of Love, Peace and Joy to the World, will set off from outside St George’s Church, parade down the High Street and Harbour Street and finish at the Ramsgate Tunnels for refreshments and more fun.
People who took part in the creative workshops can collect their lanterns at the Church from 4pm on December 31st.
The parade will form up at St George’s Church at 4.15pm, setting off at 4:45pm and led by drummers of Samba Ya Wansum as it follows a route down the High Street and Harbour Street and finishes at the Ramsgate Tunnels for refreshments.
The Tunnels will be illuminated with lighting design by Light Up Ramsgate and hula hooping magic with This Bean Spins.
A special feature of this year’s New Year’s Eve celebrations will be the illuminated lantern tower at St George’s Church. The tower will be lit from 4pm as people gather for the lantern parade, before taking centre stage again later in the evening.
From just after 10pm a bespoke midnight countdown light show, created by local specialists James Brown AV, will build towards the New Year. Inspired by the golden ratio (Fibonacci Sequence), the colour sequence will create a striking and atmospheric moment as Ramsgate welcomes the year ahead.
