A cat is now safe after being rescued from a bottle recycling bin in Ramsgate.
Kent Fire & Rescue Service was alerted to the trapped moggy in the bin at Staffordshire Street car park yesterday at 1.03pm.
A Kent Fire & Rescue spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a rescue for a small animal on Staffordshire Street in Ramsgate.
“One fire engine attended, and crews used a combi tool to release a cat from a recycling container.
“There are no injuries reported.”
The cat is currently being looked after and efforts are being made to reunite it with its owner. It’s believed to be a kitty called Toblerone who has been missing from home for several days.

so , you dont feel its a criminal waste of resources using our emergency services to rescue a mangey cat ?
And what would you suggest then? They themselves needed a special tool to rescue the cat-so nobody else could do it. Would you rather it was left to starve/dehydrate to death? Just pick the receptacle up for collection & to hell with the cat?
Do you feel the same when they give oxygen to cats, dogs etc at the scene of fires they attend? They actually have a dedicated Animal Rescue Unit based in Faversham that goes to all counties to rescue animals in need. That cat is a pet-a member of a household that is much loved.

I feel it is a criminal waste of resources sending helicopters/air ambulances & lifeboats out to human idiots who pay no attention to tides-often lugging their children & pets out there with them & have to be rescued at huge cost, but they can’t just be left to drown. Animals don’t have the intelligence around danger/risks these people are supposed to have.
And not to forget the drunks & druggies.
