Remembrance services will be held across the isle on Sunday, November 9 for people to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women, as well as the animals who also served, in the two World Wars and later conflicts.
November 11 is Armistice Day, the anniversary of the end of hostilities in the First World War at 11am in 1918, with Remembrance Sunday always the second Sunday in November.

Westgate
Westgate-on-Sea Remembrance Sunday Services and Parade.
Sunday 9th November
10.30am – Remembrance Sunday Services at St Saviour’s Church and Christ Church URC.
11.30am – A Remembrance Parade forming a procession from St Saviour’s Church, Westgate Bay Avenue.
11.45am – The Parade will move off from Westgate Bay Avenue, enter St Mildreds Road and proceed to the War Memorial on Sea Road.
Noon – A short service to take place at the War Memorial commemorating Remembrance Sunday.
12.20pm – Procession back to Christ Church URC for tea and coffee.
Margate
Mayor of Margate, Cllr Katie Pope and the Margate Charter Trustees, invite the people of Margate to join in the annual Service of Remembrance.
This year’s Remembrance Sunday Parade will have an extended parade route leaving St Paul’s Church, Northdown Road, at 10:30am and make its way towards the War Memorial at Trinity Gardens, where the service will begin at approximately 10:55am.
A two-minute silence will be observed at 11:00am.
The Mayor’s Party – consisting of the Mayor and Charter Trustees – will depart from the Old Town at approximately 10:45am to meet the main parade at the War Memorial for the service.
Following the service and wreath laying, the Town Mayor will plant a tree at Trinity Gardens to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, marking the end of them Second World War.
After the service and ceremony, all parade participants – including cadets, scouts and veterans– will march from the War Memorial to The Parade, Margate, where the Mayor will take the salute.
To accommodate the longer parade, temporary road closures will be in place throughout the morning and will be fully lifted by 12 noon.
Birchington

Broadstairs
Broadstairs & St. Peter’s Town Council invite people to join the Annual Remembrance Service on Sunday 9th November.
To take place at Broadstairs War Memorial. Service begins at 10:45am Everyone welcome
This year the Town Council is proud to be working in collaboration with Inspiration Creative to make this service accessible for those that may be hearing impaired. Parts of this service will be signed and hymns led by members of Inspiration Creative.
Minster
Sunday November 9
Parade led by Viper Corps of Drums and RBL standard leaving the RBL club in Augustine Road at 10am, heading to the church for the 10.45am service. Two minutes silence at 11am.
A further ceremony to be held at the war memorial in Minster cemetery at 12.15pm.
Everyone welcome to return to the Minster RBL club, buffet, live music from 2pm.
