Inquisitive children at St Gregory’s Catholic Primary in Margate are turning their eyes to the stars to solve an important question – how does our position in the solar system impact life on Earth?
It is a far-reaching challenge that has already got Year 5 and Year 6 groups engaged with their new Science topic work in the first few weeks of term.
They created their own models to help them understand the orbit of the Earth and Moon. They answered key questions such as how the Sun, Moon and Earth move together, and how the Sun and Moon help the life to survive on our planet.
Later in the term there will be a special focus day where they will engage in hands-on learning experiences that will bring the knowledge they are gathering together.
Another high point pupils are eagerly anticipating is the visit of the WonderDome, an inflatable planetarium which brings the wonders of space to life in a captivating and magical way.
This cosmic journey is a thrilling adventure exploring the wonders of the universe delivering curriculum-focused, presenter-led content which will ignite pupils’ curiosity and spark a desire to explore and learn more.
