A US citizen is hoping Thanet history buffs can help him in his mission to track down family on his paternal side and trace an original wedding photo.
Justin Browne was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1990 and has been researching his family history for a little over a decade.
His grandfather moved to the US during the Second World War with his mother who had married an American and his siblings.
They arrived on 4 April 1946 and moved to Florida.
Justin (pictured) said: “Fast forward in time to when I was a kid, I found out that my “grandfather” wasn’t my biological grandfather and the truth about him was kept a secret until I found relatives through DNA. Since 2014, I have dedicated all my efforts in researching my paternal line exclusively.
“My hopes are to find the original photo of Colin A Browne and Jean Yvette Hopkins’ marriage which I believe is the photo in a newspaper article from 1961; Colin A Browne is my grandfather Guy’s half-brother.
“Hopefully I will also find living relatives.”
Justin has found two newspaper wedding photo articles, one in the Thanet Times dated Tuesday, October 17, 1961, and another in The East Kent Times and Mail on Wednesday, October 18,1961.
Colin and Jean were married at St George’s Church Ramsgate on October 14, 1961, before honeymooning in London.
The photos are attributed to Kent Press and Justin is hoping someone can help him track down a way to get hold of prints from the original.
