Since their debut gig in 2003, The Alter Eagles have established themselves as one of the country’s top tribute acts, headlining venues across the country recreating the sound of The Eagles.
Expect all the classics including Hotel California, Take It Easy, One Of These Nights, Take It To The Limit, Desperado, Lyin’ Eyes, and Life In The Fast Lane, as well as Henley, Frey and Walsh solo numbers like Boys of Summer, The Heat is On and Rocky Mountain Way, along with some deep cuts and plenty of sweet country harmonies and rocking twin guitars.

Daniela Bratkova and John Burgess: Light Walk

Light Walk presents the work of Daniela Bratkova (the model, artist and stylist) and John Burgess (the photographer) in an exhibition of fashion, form, fun and photography at the Pie Factory Gallery in Margate
The show contains photographic images, paintings, collages and installations many of which have been inspired by music and poetry. It includes an interactive gallery to allow you to experience the thrill of being in the studio as the model or the photographer, so come along and have a go yourself! But the bottom line is this is perhaps the greatest, scariest, monster film ever made.

Thanet Photographers exhibition

The exhibition features some 25 photographers exhibiting two images each with subject matter ranging from landscapes and seascapes, to sunsets and rises, wildlife and street scenes.

More than an artistic collaboration, this exhibition is a testament to a decade-long friendship.
Born from a mutual appreciation of each other’s distinct yet complementary practices, IDLE TONGUES is a playful warping of the old adage “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop,” unsettling the false assumption that the modern craftsperson works with a calm or sanctified mind.
For Rose, sculpting is a steady commitment to carving away, through which the contours of the female figure emerge. In contrast, Molly sees her practice as a kind of perilous entanglement, where intricate narratives are worked into tight, deliberate stitches.
This new body of work, composed of both ceramics and textiles, returns to themes of mythic archetypes, the body in the landscape, folkish Englishness, and the unruly boundaries between art and craft.

First Friday – Shipwreck
September 5, Marine Studios, 17 Albert Terrace, Margate from 6pm-8.30pm
A chance find in a charity shop on Margate’s High Street has inspired a group of artists, writers, and makers to hold an event on the theme of ‘Shipwreck’.
When printmaker Amy Hey brought a framed map of shipwrecks off the Kent coast to Marine Studios, after finding it in her lunch-hour, it inspired the theme for this month’s First Friday event.
The map shows that shipwrecks are scattered along Thanet’s coastline, from famous wrecks like the East India Company’s Hindustan and the Margate Lifeboat ‘Friend to all Nations’, to the most recent – the Islay trader which ran aground by Turner in 2017.
For First Friday, Dan Thompson has completed a set of ink drawings of some of the ships lost locally. Archaeologist Steve Tomlinson and beachcomber Al Evans will have some of the things they have found on local beaches on display.
And the map Amy Hey found will be joined by another, showing shipwrecks on the Goodwin Sands, from the collection of Marine Studios founder Kate Kneale. As always at First Friday, there will be some hands-on crafting activities to help people explore the ideas further. There might also be some poetry readings through the evening.
This month’s event is a co-promotion between Marine Studios and Dan Thompson’s Seaside History Club.

Model Railway Exhibition (7 Sept)
7th September, 10am to 4pm, Ramsgate Tunnels
Model railway engineering clubs from Ramsgate and Canterbury are behind a special event to be held in Ramsgate on Sunday 7 September, marking the 200th anniversary of Britain’s railways.
Working closely with Ramsgate Tunnels, the event will feature miniature trains and traction engines operating along a stretch of the promenade beside the tourist attraction between 10am and 4pm.
The occasion is supported by Ramsgate Town Council and is being organised by Ramsgate & District Model Engineering Club and Canterbury & District Model Engineering Society. They will be running a ride-on miniature railway outdoors and there will be a free-to-enter model railway exhibition in the tunnels themselves.
Several model railway layouts from other parts of Kent are expected along with a number of specialist traders. The tunnels’ own model railway exhibit will also be on display.
A selection of local-based miniature traction engines and steam lorries is set to join the event and will operate from a car park beside the tunnels.
After a short break Railway Tours are also steaming back onto the calendar. Visitors can enjoy a fully guided walk through the entire length of the historic 1863 mainline railway tunnel with, circumstances permitting, the change to venture into the 1936 narrow-gauge railway branch tunnel.
There will be two tours on 7 September, at 11am and 2.30pm.
Deep Tunnel Shelter Explorer Tours will continue to run as normal alongside these tours.

This is a flat ride suitable for beginners along the Viking trail and will be a great way to meet new people to cycle with.

Lunar Eclipse at Reculver

Your host for this event is Michaela Heath.
There will be a total lunar eclipse on Sunday 7th September. Moonrise approx at 7.33pm just in time for us to see this lunar eclipse from the UK (actual totality approx 7.11pm when the moon is below the horizon) so we will see a blood moon rise, appearing much darker than usual. The moon will gradually move out of the Earth’s umbra and penumbra until 9.55pm.
Meet in Reculver Towers car park, if you would like to attend to observe this event please arrive by 7pm. Bring binoculars or telescopes (if you have them).
