A 13-year-old from Ramsgate has been named as one of 30 finalists in the Kidpreneur category of the GoHenry Dream Big competition.
Ursuline College student Thomas Turner, 13, scooped his place out of more than 5,000 entries to the Kidpreneur category.
The national competition, run by GoHenry, is designed to help young people realise their dreams by awarding £1,000 to ten winners across a range of categories. From future CEOs to budding creators, the initiative champions the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.
Thomas has already shown remarkable creativity and determination. At just nine years old, he wrote and published his first book about saving the planet and fighting pollution, followed by two more, one continuing the environmental theme, and another, a thrilling adventure story full of twists and excitement.
Thomas is passionate about building a future through writing, saying: “My biggest dream is to be a writer, not just any writer, but one whose stories reach people all around the world. “I’ve got loads more ideas buzzing around in my head just waiting to be written down. One day, I’d love to see one of my books turned into a film on the big screen – that’s my ultimate dream.
“Winning this competition would give me the chance to share my stories with even more people and bring me one step closer to my dream of being a world-famous author.”
Voting is open until 15th September, after which GoHenry will announce the winners who will each receive £1,000 to invest in their passion.
Thomas’s family are immensely proud with mum Claire saying: “To see Thomas reach the top 30 out of 5,000 at just 13 years old is incredible.
“This competition is all about encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs, and Thomas is proof of just how much passion and determination young people have.”
