Coming on the back of the recent auction sale of the King’s Head, Sarre (doubtless for a fast buck to be made by developers) the news that Sheps is selling the Cherry Brandy House comes as a shock. The nightmare scenario would be that the CBH close too and that it also gets developed. Why a nightmare? Were the CBH to be delicensed, then a journey from Canterbury to Ramsgate would be “dry” as all the villages along the main road have seen their pubs close and largely get built over. Who needs a lower drink driving limit/crackdown, when there are no pubs left to drive to?

We used to use this pub fairly often up until the long-term landlord retired 2 or 3 years back, but the menu became much reduced with the new landlord so we no longer bothered.
Grade 1 listed, that would be a nightmare for greedy property developers who want a quick buck.
I met my wife in this pub happy days.she was the opening act for a cabaret show I was in.
Very impressive watching her firing the ping pong balls around the room whilst dancing to the striptease song,oh happy days.

Around 1979-79 I played a gig there with the white snake in our early years. fantastic pub great gig. I Ended up sharing vocals with peggy mount who popped in with David kosoff and his son the mighty Paul kosoff from rock band free.
