A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a pursuit through Westwood and Ramsgate by police in the early hours of this morning (July 26).
Officers on patrol in Margate Road at Westwood gave chase at around 1.30am after a motorist refused to stop.
The vehicle, understood to have been a van, was then driven off with reports of a near miss with other cars at Tesco petrol station, several police vehicles in pursuit and the police helicopter called in to assist the search.
It reportedly was pursued into Ramsgate before finally being stopped at around 2.10am at Pysons Road, near the junction with Newlands Road.
A man was arrested and then bailed pending further enquiries.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “At around 1.30am on Saturday 26 July, officers on patrol in Broadstairs required a motorist to stop in Margate Road.
“The vehicle failed to do so and a short pursuit commenced which ended just after 2.10am.
“A man in his 30s was arrested and has been bailed pending further enquiries.”
