Children from St Gregory’s Catholic Primary in Margate have united in faith and community with their peers at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary in Broadstairs.
Year 5 and 6 pupils embarked on their ‘pilgrimage’ in celebration of the Jubilee Year of Hope. This journey not only highlighted the importance of the event but also promoted the spirit of unity and resilience within their faith.
At St Joseph’s the groups joined together in a range of engaging sporting activities for an enjoyable day that fostered a sense of togetherness between both schools
St Gregory’s Assistant Head Teacher Athanasia Papa-Adams described it as “a heart-warming display of unity and spirit,” and she added: “This significant occasion has provided our school with an opportunity to deepen our understanding of faith during our Religious Education lessons and collective worship assemblies.
“It was particularly inspiring to observe the eldest pupils engage with our partner school, St Joseph’s, as they participated in various sporting events. The camaraderie exhibited during these activities underscored the essence of this pilgrimage; the children cheered each other on, demonstrating unwavering support and encouragement.
“It was a remarkable illustration of community and togetherness, reinforcing the moral values we strive to instill in our students. As they collaborated and celebrated one another’s achievements, it became clear that this pilgrimage not only fostered personal growth, but also strengthened the bonds between our schools, paving the way for future connections.”
The Catholic Church is celebrating a Jubilee Year in 2025, designated as the “Pilgrims of Hope” Jubilee by the late Pope Francis. This special holy year, which occurs every 25 years, is intended to be a time of hope and renewal for the Church and the world, particularly in the face of challenges like war, poverty, and climate change
