Pupils at St George’s Primary School in Broadstairs were jumping for joy during a recent visit from the award-winning skipping programme Skip2Bfit.
Led by energetic presenter David McCormack, the children took part in an action-packed skipping challenge that inspired them to get active and discover the fun in fitness. The sessions were held in front of the vibrant Skip2Bfit banner, and every child who completed the challenge was rewarded with a pot of fresh blueberries, a brain-boosting superfood snack, provided in a colourful cardboard fruit pot.
The blueberries were supplied by sponsors, BerryWorld and Winterwood Farms, who help make it possible to bring the complete health message to schools across the UK.
Skip2Bfit is the only school workshop that delivers healthy exercise and healthy eating combined in one fun, motivational day. Based on the principle that 80 percent of health is nutrition and 20 percent is exercise, the programme helps children understand why both elements are vital to their wellbeing. Each child also received a health leaflet to take home, complete with a recipe for the Skip2Bfit blueberry smoothie, reinforcing the message with families and encouraging healthier choices at home.
The fruit pots also support the programme’s sustainability message, encouraging children to reuse them and bring in their own fruit each day, helping to build healthy habits.
The aim of Skip2Bfit is helping children understand that if they can improve in skipping through the challenges, they can improve in their classwork too. The message resonates when children realise they’ve made the progress themselves 0 teaching children life skills, building resilience and encouraging them to take responsibility for their own development.
Skip2Bfit delivers its award-winning programme nationwide, but this visit was especially meaningful, as the initiative first began in Broadstairs back in 2003.

Founder John McCormack said: “It was great to be back in a local school where it all started. Skip2Bfit is all about building children’s resilience and determination through our challenges. We leave every school not just with inspiration, but with a fun, easy-to-use scheme of work and all the resources teachers need to continue delivering the Skip2Bfit challenge in just two minutes a day.”
The programme, recognised nationally for its impact on health and wellbeing, combines fun fitness with core educational values including motivation, nutrition, sustainability, and a growth mindset.
