The start of Ramsgate Week was marked yesterday (July 21) with a visit to the Race Hut after the Royal Temple Yacht Club hosted Mayor Cllr Laurie Hudson, her husband, the Town Sargent and Ramsgate Town Promoter Rebekah Smith for breakfast.
The Race Hut is based at the end of the East Pier above the Harbour Brasserie Restaurant. While there the starting sequence was explained by the dedicated race team. The opportunity was also taken to discuss further plans to expand the regatta and work together in partnership on future town events, having worked together successfully to coordinate this year’s 85th Return to Dunkirk by the Association of Dunkirk Little Ships in May.
Ramsgate Town Promoter Rebekah was delighted to see the town from a different angle, having never visited the Race Hut before.
Ramsgate Week runs until Friday 25th July with boats from France and all along the East Coast participating.
The IRC East Coast Championships sponsored by North Sails starts on Wednesday through to Friday. On Thursday there will be two races for the QEII cup and Friday everyone competes for the prestigious Gold Cup.
The Royal Temple Yacht Club is open to non -members and offers live music every day as well as barbecues and evening meals.

And Thanetians wonder why we’re constantly overlooked and ignored. The person paid to promote the town is manifestly ignorant of it!🙄
TDC staff…. useless, lazy, clock-watching jobsworths everyone. Sack the lots and re-hire on a realistic hourly rate, minimal pension provisions (legal minimum) and a proper contract. Then SUPERVISE them hourly, daily, weekly.
I’m sick of TDC staff sitting on their backsides (or sofa) instead of doing anything like real work.
In some TDC offices the staff are almost too fat to get out of their chairs.
What on earth has this comment got to do with Ramsgate Week, which is run by the Royal Temple Yacht Club, and supported by Ramsgate Town Council.
Mayor Cllr Laurie Hudson, the Town Sargent and Ramsgate Town Promoter Rebekah Smith … Judge people by the company they keep… all the above associated with a grossly under-performing rubbish TDC.
