Two people remain in custody after police were called to a reported assault in Ramsgate last night (June 16).

Officers were called at 8.10pm following a report that a woman had been assaulted. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 26 year old man and a 27 year old woman were arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and are currently in custody.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to Boundary Road, Ramsgate at about 8.10pm on Monday 16 June following reports that a woman had been assaulted.

“Officers attended, along with SECAMB and the woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

“A 26 year old man and a 27 year old woman were arrested at the scene and are currently in custody, having been arrested on suspicion of assault.”

  3. ramsgate is bandit country nowadays , the whole appearance of the place just adds to the sinister feel it has , it cannot keep harping on about having a royal harbour ,how many ramsgate people have a boat ? very few – most dont have a decent pair of shoes. it is going down the pan rapidly

  4. I walk through the estates between Boundary Road and the High Street most days of the week . I have never seen or heard any fracas there. “Ray ennis” and “real world” are exaggerating.

    • This occurred in Boundary Road, Ramsgate, nowhere near the harbour, or Kings Street, but I would like to know if it was anywhere near one or both of the two pubs there? Anyone know?

      • The picture shows “police tape” outside St.Lukes Court, so quite likely it occurred there. No hreat surprise the building is getting rather unkempt and tatty, had next to no maintenance/repair/decoration since it was built and has deteriorated into a prime example of what is instantly identifiable as social housing. The residents happier to park on the pavement rather than use the car park.
        Housing policy has turned that part of ramsgate into a cess pit over the last 40 years.

        • Talking to someone I know who lives in Boundary Road, it suggests this may be a hate crime! Apparently the woman who was attacked had a young child with her, and did not have English as her first language. She was not in religious dress, so was probably not Muslim. Is there any further news on thsi Kathy?

        • “Peace makes plenty” – No it hasn’t. I live a few minutes walk away from Boundary Road rec., and the area certainly has not turned into a “cess pit”.

          • And i lived even closer from late 80’s to 2000, saw the old FJ Pike building turned into social housing, forecourt close and St. Lukes court eventually be built. Flats built on the old Dormans site more on the old polishers and mot station.
            The local shops slowly closed, the fish shop had the worlds worst conversion done along with shops either side, bike shop went, foxes went, hardware store went, pubs shut etc etc etc.
            Ramsgate from the Boundary Road park down king street to town centre is a shadow of its former self , now dominated by poor quality housing catering for too many of lifes misfits, the remaining shops now predominantly hair care, beauty and fast food.
            It’s a dump. Plagued by drugs and antisocial behaviour.
            You won’t agree, but the area has been on the slide for way too long. Just look at the state of many of the buildings and appalling standards of every corner cut and every expense spared maintenance and repair.

  5. As a DFH , I have never had a problem in Ramsgate as the locals are too busy fighting each other. Seriously. I never feel threatened and absolutely love the place

  6. I keep my head up, don’t look nervous & avoid people who look like a problem. So far so good. Lots of the druggies are in zombie land anyway which helps.

    • Totally agree , Ramsgate is a typical seaside town and if you are looking for trouble and hang around the harbour area after midnight you will surely find it .

  7. I met my wife whilst she was bare knuckle fighting sailors in Ramsgate!

    I thought yup that’s the girl for me!
