On a busy day for volunteer crew, Ramsgate RNLI attended four separate incidents yesterday (May 31).
The Atlantic 85 Inshore Lifeboat “Claire and David Delves” launched in the morning in response to a Pan-Pan radio call from a yacht aground on the Quern Bank, half a mile outside Ramsgate Harbour.
On arrival it was established the casualty vessel had re-floated. As the people on board were safe and uninjured, and with the vessel not taking on water, it continued its passage to Dover and the ILB returned to Station.
While escorting the Dunkirk Little Ships back to Ramsgate, the station’s All Weather Tamar Class Lifeboat “Diamond Jubilee” attended three further incidents. The first tasking by UK Coastguard was to a Personal Water Craft (jet-ski) reportedly in difficulties off Ramsgate Main Sands. On scene it was established the casualty did not require any help so the lifeboat returned to the flotilla of Little Ships in the Main Channel to Ramsgate.
Shortly afterwards UK Coastguard again tasked “Diamond Jubilee” to assist a local fishing boat which had called for help with towing a second fishing boat back to Ramsgate that had suffered engine failure. The lifeboat again left the Dunkirk Little Ships and proceeded to the casualty vessel. On arrival the casualty had managed to restart their engine and was able to return safely to Ramsgate under their own power.
Having returned to escorting the Little Ships again, the lifeboat Coxswain noticed that one of the Little Ships that had left the flotilla to return to its berth on the River Stour had stopped, so the lifeboat proceeded to the vessel to investigate.
The vessel had suffered engine failure. Due to the shallow water in the River Stour, the Coxswain requested the launch of the Inshore Lifeboat to tow the vessel back to its berth. Once the vessel was secure the Inshore Lifeboat retuned to Ramsgate.
I feel really sorry for the RNLI it must be the most abused charity out there.
From being an illegal immigrant taxi to being the equivalent to the RAC/AA of the sea, all for free.
Yet call a government funded ambulance to an RTA road traffic accident you will get charged.
so true , i would imagine the collections have taken a hammering since they started ferrying illegal immigrants to our shores , i have heard many people say they would not give them a penny

Those people, must be like you, quite bigoted and fact averse regarding international maritime law regarding vessels in distress. But its ok, we got the subtext of your post, you’d rather your fellow human beings drowned in the channel, all because they’re brown.
It is not because they are brown they are entering this country illegally! Never mind there all safe now living off the British taxpayer. Free bed and board!

What a pathetic comment! Why should I prove to you whoever you are that this is my real name. As far as the RNLI is concerned I don’t donate money to them! I have charities including the air ambulance service. So don’t attempt to rattle your tin under my nose especially after the farce of a few days ago where the RNLI and Border Force were too busy escorting illegal migrants into the UK whilst fishing vessels were called upon to assist other people in difficulty at sea.
But ‘Laurence Davies’, can you not see that you saying anything about commenters’ names used here whilst being absolutely unable to demonstrate ‘Laurence Davies’ is indeed a name of a real person is a little bit…ironic?

As far as you suggesting ‘You sound a bit unhinged’ You would think that as your grasp of reality and the consequences in letting thousands of undocumented individuals arrive illegally trafficked by criminal gangs of which 85% of those arriving being young men who the Authorities (police/security services etc) have no idea who they really are has passed you by! I note well trodden call of ‘racist’ substitute that for realist and the thought what hold the criminals who trafficked these individuals still have on them once in the UK!

Apart from these ‘young men’ making you feel insecure’, have you got anything about ‘the consequences’ of these people arriving in the UK? Whats so ‘bad’ about it? Is crime worse because of them? Is the economy worse because of them?
