Boys & Maughan Solicitors
Boys & Maughan Solicitors has strengthened its leadership team with the promotion of three experienced lawyers, Andréa McCoy, Karen Perreau, and Lucinda Parker, to the partnership, bringing the total number of partners at the firm to 17.
Andréa, a private client solicitor based in Ramsgate, is widely respected for her clear and pragmatic legal advice. Karen and Lucinda, both specialists in children law, have extensive expertise in handling complex cases.
In addition to these appointments, Boys & Maughan has introduced a new associate partner role, recognising the talent and ambition within the firm. Wendy Burgess, Kathleen Gray, Graham Tong, and Zoey Arscott have been named as the first to take up these positions.
Further strengthening the firm’s senior legal cohort, Katie Smithson has been promoted to Senior Chartered Legal Executive, while Joana Daraskeviciute steps into the role of Senior Solicitor.
All nine lawyers formally assumed their new positions on 1 April 2025.
Andrew Baker, Senior Partner at Boys & Maughan, commented: “These promotions reflect the ongoing strength of the firm and our commitment to strategic growth.
“Our new partners, associate partners, and senior lawyers have made invaluable contributions to our success, and I extend my warmest congratulations to each of them. Their skills, dedication, and professionalism are instrumental to our firm’s continued development.
“As we look to the future, it is crucial that we have the right people in key positions. These ten individuals will play a vital role in enhancing our services, mentoring colleagues, and driving forward our plans.”
“The creation of the associate partner role enables us to recognise talented individuals who are on track for salaried partnership in the near future. We will provide structured mentoring to support them in reaching that goal,” explained Andrew.
“We have always been committed to developing talent from within, and these promotions continue our long tradition of supporting career progression.”
Boys & Maughan now has a team of 62 lawyers operating across six main offices, ably supported by 100 secretaries, administrators and central services staff.
Pomus Margate
Owner of Pomus restaurant in The Centre, Margate, is opening a ‘little sister’ venture on the harbour arm.
Ryan Jacovides will be offering wine, cocktails and snacks at Pom on the Stone Pier.
Pomus first opened in April last year and offers seasonal bar snacks, small plates and generous larger sharing dishes; showcasing the very best local British produce, from suppliers such as East Kent Growers, Whitstable Oyster Fishery, Northdown Butchers, Moons Green Charcuterie and Cheesemakers of Canterbury.
The Souvlaki
Greek restaurant and takeaway The Souvlaki has now opened a branch in Ramsgate.
The venue serves up traditional Greek souvlaki and gyros as well as desserts.
Vegetarian and vegan options are available alongside fresh salads.
The Souvlaki started as a street food stall in summer 2015 at Kingston Ancient Market and became popular quickly.
The new branch can be found at 26 King Street, Ramsgate.
Silvers Showbar

Silvers Showbar has now opened at the former Modern Boulangerie site in Harbour Street.
Ronnies, run by Thanet businesswoman Charlotte Silver, outgrew its previous premises due to success of events such as its bottomless brunches.

Charlotte, 26, has now combined the glitzy bar and her Silver Slipper dance school businesses at the new site. The cocktail and events bar are on the main floor, the dance studio at basement level and costume storage on the upper floor.

In Silvers signature style the bar is a combination of sparkle and black and silver. There are disco party toilets with each cubicle having a different theme, such as Barbie, and neon chat up lines.
Spritz Bar and Lounge
A new cocktail bar has taken over the former Ronnies premises on Ramsgate harbourfront.
The venture promises to offer cocktails such as Espresso Martini and limoncello spritz, aperitivo culture, and sea views.

Tesco

Thanet shoppers can pick up an extra bag to put through the checkout this Easter to support families facing financial difficulties during the school holidays.
The popular donation bags pre-packed with healthy long-life food items will be available in large Tesco stores in Thanet during the Easter break (April 7-20) to make donating the most-needed items easier.
Claire De Silva, Head of Communities at Tesco, said: “With the lack of free school meal provision during the holidays, we know that families find it difficult to make ends meet and give their kids nutritious meals.
“Our pre-packed donation bags will give a much-needed top-up to food charities FareShare and Trussell and make a difference to the lives of thousands of children and their families.”
The Easter Holiday Helps initiative is part of Tesco’s year-round support for schoolchildren as part of Tesco’s Stronger Starts campaign. This includes the Fruit and Veg for Schools programme, which helps schools with the highest rates of free school meals by offering grants for purchasing fruit and vegetables from Tesco stores. The scheme helps children to get healthier snack choices and lunch options while they’re at school.
Tesco partners with the charity Trussell, whose food banks support Thanet families year-round – with nearly two-thirds of all their support last year provided to families with children. It has seen the number of emergency food parcels for people facing hardship increase by 94% over the past five years.
Another Tesco partner, FareShare, is the UK’s largest food redistribution charity, providing good- to-eat surplus food to a wide range of charities and community groups across the UK – three quarters of which support families with children.
The most-needed items for FareShare and Trussell are: UHT and powered milk, tinned meat and fish, long-life fruit juice, cooking/pasta sauces, tinned vegetables, tinned and dried soup, pasta, rice and noodles, cereal and porridge, tea and coffee, and sponge/rice pudding.
