A man is due in court today (February 6) after reports of a disturbance in Margate town centre and then a fracas at Margate railway station where an emergency worker was assaulted.
Officers were called to the disturbance in town at 3.42pm before apprehending a man at the railway station
Power to the rails had to be switched off due to a trespasser on the track. Trains were delayed while the incident was dealt with.
One passenger said around five police plus security officers pursued two males with one apprehended but the other one evading them.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to a report of a man causing a disturbance in Margate town centre at 3.42pm on Wednesday 5 February.
“Officers attended Margate Train Station where a man was arrested.
“Callum Packman, 23, of Folkestone Road, Dover, was charged with the assault of an emergency worker, criminal damage, and assault by beating.
“He was remanded in custody to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 6 February.”
