QEQM Hospital League of Friends
Patients in the QEQM Hospital had a brighter Christmas thanks to 450+ gifts provided by the League of Friends.
Shown in the photo are the charity’s Chairman Sylvia Pheils with fellow trustees Linda & Terry and two young helpers – just part of our team who gave up their Christmas Eve afternoon to distribute the gifts around the hospital’s wards to spread some cheer over the festive period.
Thanet Jubilee Singers
New for 2025, Thanet Jubilee Singers have formed to perform classic Gospel and Feel-Good Music in our community. We’re a performance group; very proud to sing Christian songs but we perform plenty of secular music, also.
All of our music is about feeling good and this is something that the choir focuses on through social activities in addition to singing. We’re an inclusive choir so we’re less reliant on soloists.
Our repertoire stretches back to the earliest Gospel Songs, recorded at the beginning of the 20th Century and explores their influence on secular, popular music. Regardless of song choice, all of our music is chosen to uplift and inspire you.
We’re always looking for singers and musicians to join our group. If you’re interested, you can come along to rehearsals with no obligation; sit in and listen or join in and sing. We’ll lend you some music and you can try out with us until a decision is made. There’s nothing to pay until you decide to stay.

RNLI Thanet Fundraising Group
On Friday a representative of the Fundraising Team had the pleasure of presenting a certificate with grateful thanks to Aarven Store in King St Margate.
This was for their sterling work of raising £1427.17 in aid of the RNLI
Aarven had a collection bucket in their store from 26th August until their Halloween Event 26th October. This event was well supported by other local businesses in Margate, and had a huge following.
The event finished in the old town square where they held a fancy dress competition for dogs. Despite the weather a great time was had by all.
The ladies from Aarven have been absolutely brilliant in raising funds for the RNLI and would like to continue helping us raise funds.
Line Rangers Line Dancing
The Line Rangers had a communal Christmas Card again this year where dancers signed the card and made donations for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf and a record breaking £88 was raised this year.
Classes start again on Friday 3rd January at 2pm at Birchington Village Centre.
