A man has been charged after police uncovered a cannabis cultivation at a house in Minster.
Neighbourhood officers visited a property in Tothill Street following reports of suspected criminal activity.
On Tuesday morning (November 12), police found the property was being used to house a cannabis cultivation, with more than 600 plants discovered. Multiple black sacks of harvested cannabis were also seized and officers have now dismantled the growing equipment being used.
As part of their enquiries into the address, an arrest was made.
On Wednesday 13 November, Aleksjo Lazaj, 22, of no fixed address, was charged with being concerned in the production of cannabis.
He appeared at Margate Magistrates’ Court later the same day and was remanded in custody. The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 16 December.

It’s absurd how the government criminalizes substances with potential health benefits, while legalizing harmful ones like alcohol. This country’s laws are out of control and rooted in the past. We need to adapt to modern understanding. If you think we’ve made the people who fought in World War II proud with our current state of affairs, you’re kidding yourself

Drugs are leaglised-Nicotine, Alcohol & Caffeine. Cigarettes & Booze are incredibly dangerous to health, but acceptable to society-because they are on sale & taxed. Worth remembering also that WW2 soldiers took Amphetamines to stay awake/perform better on missions-endorsed by the RAF in late 1942 & used across all branches of the military.
During WW1 people could buy drug hampers in stores like Harrod’s for soldiers on the western front-that included Syringes, Needles, Heroin, Cocaine & Moprhine-all legal at the time. Cocaine was legal until 2020. Heroin was still being prescribed by doctors in that form in the 1950’s. Of course doctors still are prescribing these drugs-just in a different form.
