A regular Saturday market will take place at Manston airport from August 31.
The event will be run by Bray Associates, which also runs the Friday market in Ramsgate.
A call out for traders has also been made with the market manager saying Manston’s event will be “massive” with stalls for food, clothing, cosmetics, accessories and more.
Manston airport market will be open to the public from 9am to 3pm.
Traders prices are Book on fee £50 and Casual fee £60 with some introductory offers as the operator looks to grow the new venture.
Bray Associates run markets in 13 other districts and rebooted the Ramsgate market in June this year.

As for a better location? Just about ANYWHERE else, as long as it’s near a regular bus service and/or a train station. The fact that thing was, comically, announced by someone sitting in his car speaks volumes about the organiser’s attitude.
Well, how about suggesting an actual venue, as opposed to a non-answer, perhaps that would be more useful that just whinging on. Or, maybe how putting forward markets at multiple locations. Places for people who do drive, not wanting to rely on spotty, expensive & infrequent public transport and another location for those that do want to use it or live close enough to walk.

Exactly, they should focus on getting it ready for some roaring cargo planes to start using it, not a market. I’m glad you have come round to wanting it to be an airport at last.

Daft? Most people who go to boot fairs or similar, out in the sticks, go by car if only to be able to take home things they buy. I’m not too sure how you could find a less disruptive place to hold such a market. Masses of space for managed parking without disrupting local people. In just the same vein, Manston as an airport must be in one of the least disruptive areas in terms of residential over-fly of any in the country, and if they were to be adjusted slightly could be even less so.. in both directions.
A boot fair is different from buying fruit and veg. If it was in a place more bus or train-friendly, I’d attend… but as I don’t drive, I’ll be forced to give it a miss.
Surely it’s just a short walk from Birchington for you, accross the sign posted public walkways and fields.
Check your ordnance survey map. Even walking access to Manston is relatively poor.

Erm, the town of Ramsgate, 40,000 souls, lies just under the flight path. These people might not agree with you as planes take off and land every 15 minutes between 06:00 and 23:00, with unscheduled landings at ant time.

Totally agree. When I lived in Essex many years ago, there was a market every Saturday at North Weald Air strip out in the sticks loads of stalls and always extremely busy. Maybe if it is successful they will run a bus there!
Markets are a thing of the past, not many attend the markets we already have in Thanet without another in middle of Manston. Prices might put many off too.

Decent and easily accesible markets very much thrive, as I’ve seen in many other parts of the country.

Just seen a piece in my newspaper saying the London City airport owned by the Kuwaiti government, has been granted an extra 38% increase in flights! That should knock a hole in any prospective cargo planes flying into Manston, why go there when you can deliver cargo directly into central London, and all points north, south, east and west!
