Man airlifted to hospital following collision between bus and car on A28 near Sarre

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision involving a double decker bus and a car near Sarre, where eight people were injured with one man airlifted to hospital.

Emergency services were called just before 12.20pm today (August 9) to a two-vehicle collision involving a grey Lexus and the double decker bus on the A28 Island Road, between Sarre and Upstreet.

Officers attended the scene alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

Eight people were reported to have sustained injuries. While seven were believed not to be serious, one man in his 60s was airlifted to a London hospital where he remains in a serious condition. His next of kin are aware.

The road remains closed between Upstreet and Sarre while vehicle recovery is ongoing.
