Pirates, music, film, a sonic trail and more at this year’s Ramsgate Festival of Sound

Busk at Dusk returns at the Ramsgate Festival of Sound

A sonic trail, concerts, ‘talking toys,’ films, pirates and more will feature in this Summer’s Ramsgate Festival of Sound.

The annual event returns on August 22 until August 25. The Sonic Trail spans venues from the harbour to As Was Is Now Gallery, Arts In Ramsgate, This Museum is (Not) Obsolete, St George’s Church and the Royal Sands apartments.

The trail includes Broken Time at St George’s Church on August 22 from noon until 5pm. The piece is a sound installation and performance by Gordon R Peden while MixTape 88/00 at Arts In Ramsgate tells he tale of the tape: a display of photography, VHS and cassette tape installations, and associated music paraphernalia that charts the ways in which friends shared music in the 80s and 90s, through the curating, designing and sending homemade DIY-mixtape recordings. This can be seen on August 22 from noon to 5pm at AiR, 46 High Street.

At Ellington Park activities include Pirate Adventure with Bindlestick Theatre Company. Join Curly McCutlass on an adventure to reclaim her treasure and become a part of her motley crew. Fight enemy pirates and learn sea shanties, the pirate code and go on a treasure hunt for gold.

The show is on at various times. Book (free) tickets at: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/ramsgatefestivalofsound1/1326599

The park also plays host to baby sensory and toddler sense sessions, performances from This Bean Spins, drumming fun and music.

The Busk at Dusk finale is back on the East Cliff promenade on the Sunday night featuring a new line up of busking artists, emerging talent from Pie Factory Music and headlined by Gemma Rogers and band.
