Boss of new My Angels company pledges to make “significant impact in the music, media and events industry”

Founder and CEO Tamara Pile-Gray has secured funding

The owner of a new Community Interest Company (CIC) says she is set to make a significant impact in the music, media and events industry with a strong focus on social consciousness. Founder and CEO Tamara Pile-Gray says My Angels is collaborating with venues and businesses in Thanet to host events, provide a variety of music, media, and related services and is working towards establishing a physical base.

Tamara says at the heart of My Angels’ mission is a commitment to supporting emerging musicians, grassroots organisations and underserved communities. The company will partner with local businesses, support agencies, the council, and voluntary organisations to achieve its goals.

In this phase of its development, My Angels is primarily focusing on hosting events. These aim to create opportunities for musicians and creatives to express themselves, connecting them with audiences, event organisers, and other creatives to deliver immersive and unforgettable experiences.

While events remain the primary focus, My Angels also offers music and media-related services, including mixing and mastering, photography and videography. The company’s long-term vision is to become a fully inclusive organisation providing diverse services and opportunities, offering a space for individuals regardless of age, background, beliefs, or struggles. Emphasis will be placed on supporting locals, particularly those from underserved communities and low-income backgrounds.

Future plans include running workshops and training programs to boost engagement and employment within Thanet’s creative sectors.

Tamara, 30, says she drew inspiration from her grandmother, Maureen Thoroughgood, who was dedicated to helping vulnerable people and creating opportunities in the community. Further influence, which increased Tamaras’ interest in the creative sectors, came from Connor Air and his platform for local artists, STTV. Combining these influences and passions, Tamara came up with the idea for My Angels.

To build her expertise, she pursued studies as a mature student in Music Production, Film, and Events Planning and is now completing a master’s degree in PR, Media, and Communications.

She said: My Angels has recently secured its first round of funding from Canterbury Christ Church University Careers and Enterprise Hub, following a successful pitch. The panel was so impressed with the presentation that they awarded £2000, with an additional £500 available in six months upon demonstrating success and development plans. This is a notable achievement, as it exceeded the usual maximum award amount.

“My Angels has ambitious plans that promise more efficient services for musicians and businesses that will also provide major benefits for the local community. However, this long-term vision will require a dedicated journey ahead.”

To grow, My Angels needs success from the events and services they currently offer, community support and additional funding. Despite the challenges ahead, Tamara is confident in My Angels’ potential for success and believes the organisation will make a significant impact in Thanet.

The first event, a DJ night dedicated to garage music, will take place at Margate venue Bar 7 on August 17th. Additional events featuring local musicians and taking place from September will be announced soon.
