Fury’s Bar in Ramsgate give £1,000 boost to Pilgrims Hospices

Fury's Bar has donated £1,000 to Pilgrims Hospices

Landlords, staff and regulars at Fury’s Bar in Ramsgate have raised £1000 for Pilgrims Hospices charity – and they’re not finished yet.

Landlady Linda Goldsmith has organised raffles, bingo, buffets and quizzes with quizmasters Joy and Ben Mendez, to raise funds for the end of life charity.

The team has now handed over a cheque for £1,000 and Linda says they will carry on raising funds for the rest of the year.

Ramsgate couple Linda Goldsmith and Steve Fury opened Fury’s Bar in 2022 and have become a staple of the community – also sponsoring Thanet Sunday League team Shrimpos FC which was formed in the memory of Stephen Shrimpton who sadly lost his life due to epilepsy.

Linda said: “My mum Winifred was involved in the hospice in the beginning and did a lot of fundraising for them.

“Now we have donated £1,000 and we are nearly up to the next £1,000. Every time we reach that we will give them a cheque.”

Annie Pritchard, Community Fundraising Assistant said: “I had the pleasure of visiting a little gem of Ramsgate, Fury’s Bar, a lovely pub on Boundary Road, on Friday 28th June for a cheque presentation in support of Pilgrims Hospices.

“They have been holding monthly quiz nights and together have raised an incredible £1,000 to help support our services. The venue has such a lovely friendly atmosphere and made me and my husband Reg so very welcome, with real community spirit.

“They will continue to hold future events, raising vital funds for a service that those in our local community may need one day.”

The fundraising donation will provide 40 hours of specialist end of life care both, within the hospice or at home.
