Sports Day fun for St Joseph’s youngsters

Sports Day fun at St Joseph's

On Thursday 27th June, the sun shone and the whole school cheered for Sports Day at St Joseph’s Primary in Broadstairs.

PE lead Ms Lehan and sports coach Mr Coyne came up with a winning formula which involved every child participating in four exhilarating events, after taking part in  a “Cha Cha slide warm up!”

Early Years and KS1 enjoyed their events throughout the morning, led and ably assisted by House Captains, Benjamin, Rachel, Bella, Bobbie, Evan, Annie, Oakley and Esmae.

Parents competed against each other in two races and then it was down to the toddlers to finish the morning with aplomb.

The KS2 Sports Day was marshalled by Year 9 PE GCSE students from Chatham and Clarendon Grammar School who were fantastic role models for the younger children.

The older students enjoyed themselves so much they asked to have their own sprinting race at the end. Again, parents and toddlers enjoyed their races and at the end of the day St Josephine Bakhita House (Purple) were victorious.

The PTFA provided refreshments throughout the day, ensuring no one felt dehydrated at any time.

A Year 5  parent said: “It really was a fantastic event, the best Sports Day I have ever attended, so well organised and with great commentary. We have three children but have never known a sports day event as good as this.”
