South East Open Studios returns in June 2024, showcasing the work of artists and makers across Kent, Sussex and Surrey.

The annual event highlights creative talent with the aim of strengthening visual arts across the region. Artists and makers will open their studio doors, hold collaborative shows and host exhibitions to showcase their work to local art lovers and visitors at destinations throughout the south east.

With just one week to go until registration closes on Wednesday 31st January, artists and makers are encouraged to register as quickly as possible.

This year will mark the first year of SEOS running for the whole month of June. Previously SEOS has run for 10 days but due to its growing popularity the event has been expanded over the entire month.

SEOS will host a wealth of artistic talent working across a variety of different media, from painting, printmaking and pottery to ceramics and sculpture, jewellery making and silversmithing, glass and woodwork, textile art, digital work, illustration, mixed media and more.

Registration is open to all creatives who have a space in which they can host visitors and show their work. SEOS area coordinators are on-hand to offer support and advice to help members make the most of their studio space.

Alternatively, if any members are looking for space to show their work or if they have space available for others, there’s a Space Share notice board on the SEOS website here.

Lorraine Singer, who participated in SEOS last year, said ‘’Opening my home studio to the public as part of SEOS is one of the highlights of the year. Joining together as a group of local artists not only provides valuable, affirming exposure for our work and practice, but also fosters a collaborative spirit amongst fellow exhibitors.’’

Another participant, Hannah Buchanan, said: ‘’SEOS is the first thing that goes in my calendar every year. It’s a great event to meet local collectors and share your work, as well as discovering other talented artists nearby.’’

Philip Johnson, Chair of SEOS, said: “The excitement is building as artists and makers throughout the south east are signing up for another year of South East Open Studios. We’re so fortunate to live in a part of the country where the work of the creative community is so valued. “This year’s event promises to take SEOS to a whole new level and we want as many people as possible to join this amazing scheme!”.
