Thousands of people enjoyed the Christmas light switch-on event at Westwood Cross shopping centre yesterday (November 17).
The event included performances from Liberty X members Michelle Heaton, Jessica Taylor and Kelli Young and from East 17, now consisting of Terry Coldwell, Joe Livermore, and former Artful Dodger collaborator Robbie Craig.
There was also be a line up of tribute act performances through the decades such as Elton John and Ed Sheeran.
Father Christmas, Joey the Elf and the Grinch were among those to join in the fun which was hosted in partnership with Academy fm Thanet.
There was a festive parade from the Bus Hub at Westwood Cross, with the festive lights switched on just after 6pm – including a giant teddy bear, a feature reindeer, and a walk-through bauble.
Next weekend Christmas light switch-on events will take place in Margate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Birchington. Next month there will be Christmas events in Westgate and Cliftonville.
Shame on TDC ,you should stop wasting money on stupid things in and around Thanet ,it’s only once a year put lights in towns to bring joy 😊 at Christmas, l think the people of Thanet would go with out a trees just to see lights at Christmas 🎄
