A Ramsgate hair salon has won its 11th industry award in less than five years.
We Are Salon in Turner Street was named Best Salon at the national Salon Awards held in London this month.
The awards, sponsored by Revlon, are a platform for businesses and this year received a record number of entrants.
We Are Salon, formerly Chloé Hair Design, is led by owner Chloe Nolan-Smith and manager Lewis Edmunds.
Chloe has been hairdressing in Thanet for some 18 years alongside being a freelance advanced educator and participating in backstage work.
She specialises in colour corrections and advanced colour and cutting. The salon has expanded from the original team of three, and Chloe, to a team of six including an apprentice and all stylists have recently trained in Afro texture hair cuts and colouring to increase their services for clients.
Chloe said: “Salon Awards is a huge industry event, a panel of judges sift through thousands of nominations for finalists in several different categories, including some that we have won in the past such as Best New Salon and Best Salon Team. However, the biggest award “Best Salon” is extremely coveted.
“The awards are judged on not only the quality of hair work but every aspect of the business from social media content and client feedback to the salon’s contribution to the community.”
At We Are Salon contributing to the community comes in the form of working with Rise – Thanet’s homelessness team.
The salon volunteers time once a month to provide haircuts for those people using the rough sleeper intervention project.
Chloe said: “Working with such an incredible organisation as the Thanet Rise Project is a really enjoyable way for us to give back to the community we love.
“It’s a pleasure to engage closely with clients to help improve their wellbeing, not only by providing haircuts but the experience of being taken care of and listened to.”
Chloe added: “We’re so proud to bring the award to Thanet, a community were so proud to be a part of. Our mission has always been to create an environment that is not only a safe space but somewhere to help people discover and wear their true authentic self unapologetically.
“Winning this award is testament to our hard-working, highly skilled team achieving this and having great fun along the way.”
