International Baccalaureate 2023: Dane Court Grammar celebrates ‘outstanding’ results

Following results of Diploma students at Dane Court Grammar in July – with students securing placements at Oxford, Cambridge, other notable Russell Group universities, and high-quality degree-level apprenticeships – today marks another milestone of academic excellence for the school.

Sixth form students who undertook the International Baccalaureate (IB) careers-related programme have today received their vocational results.

A noteworthy 100% of IB Careers’ Programme students secured the full award. Amongst them, 73% who took double award BTECs achieved either Distinction* or Distinction (equivalent of A* and A at A level). Impressively, all students achieved either a Distinction*, Distinction or Merit, the equivalents of A*-C at A-level.

Every student who applied to university has been awarded a place, with an overwhelming 95% being accepted into their first-choice institution.

Individual successes include:

Oliver Harris achieved triple Distinction* (equivalent to A* at A level) and Tyler Dawes received two Distinction* and a Distinction – both in the Extended IT Diploma – both will study Computer Science at Exeter and the University of Kent respectively.

Fern Christie and Jake Webber achieved Double Distinction* in Sport and will study Sport and Exercise Science at Northumbria and Portsmouth respectively.

Isabelle Kent was awarded Distinction* and Distinction in Health and Social Care and will study Veterinary Physiotherapy at Writtle University.

Rebecca Latchford’s impressive Double Distinction* in Health and Social Care secures a place at University of Chichester studying Primary Teaching.

Harrison Kennedy was awarded Double Distinction in Health and Social Care and will study Interior design with a Diploma in Creative Computing at Norwich University of Arts.

Marley Noble and Fin Baker’s impressive Business and Finance results enable them to study Business Management at Bournemouth and Reading universities respectively.

Alfie Rowland achieved Distinction in Business and B in Finance and will study Economics and Finance at University of Reading.

Ruby Wells was awarded Double Distinction in Health and Social Care and secures a place studying Politics and International Relations at Brighton.

Matthew Tudor achieved Distinction* and Distinction in IT and will study Computer Science at University of Kent.

Yusuf Burghli was awarded Double Distinction in Health and Social Care and will study English at University of Kent.

Harry Cook achieved Distinction in Business and B in Finance and will start an Art Foundation year at UCA in September.

Ruby Smith achieved a Distinction* and a Distinction in Health and Social Care and is off to study at the University of Law.

Oscar Hollands achieved Double Distinction in Sport and will study Sport, Health and Exercise Science at Portsmouth.

Mollie Vickery was awarded Distinction and Merit in Health and Social Care and will study Creative Writing at Plymouth.

Megan Enright achieved Double Distinction* in Sport and is off to study Dance at Bird College.

Amy Warrener was awarded Distinction and Merit in Health and Social Care and will study Primary Education at Canterbury Christchurch University.

Headteacher Martin Jones said: “I am thrilled for all of our students; these outstanding outcomes are a testament to their exceptional hard work, dedication, and commitment. “After our noteworthy successes in July, it is wonderful to see more of our students securing spots on competitive university courses.

“On behalf of all our students, I would like to thank everyone who has supported and cared for them throughout their time in our Sixth Form. Many congratulations to all of our students; we are immensely proud of them.”
