Two arrested in dispute over reported assault on girl and criminal damage complaint in Ramsgate

Two women have been arrested after a report of criminal damage in Ramsgate led to a complaint that a young teenage girl had been assaulted by an adult the same day.

Police attended Prestedge Avenue and West Dumpton Lane yesterday (July 26) after initially receiving a criminal damage in progress complaint. Once on the scene it was reported a youngster had been assaulted and the incident escalated.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to Prestedge Avenue in Ramsgate at around 1.40pm on Wednesday 26 July following a report of criminal damage taking place at a property.

“Further enquiries led to a report that a teenage girl had also been assaulted during the same afternoon.

“A 31-year-old woman from Ramsgate was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and using violence to secure entry to a property.

“A 22-year-old woman from Ramsgate was arrested on suspicion of assault.

“Both have been released on bail pending further enquiries into the incident.”
