Power cut hits properties in areas of Ramsgate, Monkton, Minster and St Nicholas

Power cut

Properties in Ramsgate, Monkton, St Nicholas, Minster and surrounding areas have been affected by power cuts today (May 30).

The cause is understood to be a fault in an overhead electricity line.

UK Power Networks say: “We became aware of this power cut at 17:31. We’re sorry for any disruption this may have caused. We didn’t know in advance there would be a power cut, but now that we know, our teams will do everything they can to get the power back quickly.

“Engineers in our control room have switched some customers power back on in the area. To get everyone’s power back on we may need to attend to investigate and make repairs.”

The estimate for all properties to have power returned is between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

  1. Took them long enough, it first went off mid morning, it’s been going on and off like a working girls knickers ever since.

  2. I am a former Central Electricity Generating Board engineer, before power was privatised, and I am pretty certain power generation will suffer the same fate as water supply, lack of investment! Much of the transmission network is ancient, as are sub stations, so stand by for further power cuts, and always keep a torch somewhere you can locate it in the dark!
